Soon, Android WhatsApp users will not have an unlimited backup option on Google Drive. According to a tip by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, Google Drive may limit the amount of free storage space offered to Android users for storing WhatsApp chat backups.
A screenshot released by WABetaInfo reveals the notification strings for warning users when Google Drive is nearly full and approaching the allotted limit.
iOS users’ WhatsApp conversations are stored up on iCloud, which offers 5GB of free storage space. On the other hand, Google Drive, where WhatsApp Android app users’ chat backups are stored, offers limitless storage space.
There is speculation that Google will continue to offer a storage limit for WhatsApp backups. However, it will be incorporated into a limited strategy. Google provides customers with 15GB of free storage across Gmail, Photos, Google Drive, etc.
Google terminated unlimited photo storage last year.
In accordance with the new IT Rules of 2021, WhatsApp announced on Tuesday that it had blocked 2,079,000 accounts in India during the month of December.
The corporation reported receiving 528 complaints from the country over the same month and acting on 24 of them.
