The headline acts

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (Disney+, Monday, 9:00 p.m.)

The Star Wars narrative expands on Disney+ with Skeleton Crew, featuring a group of four young teens lost in the universe who embark on a perilous journey to find their way back home. The cast includes notable names like Jude Law, Kerry Condon, Nick Frost, Jaleel White, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Fred Tatasciore, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Tunde Adebimpe. Expect weekly episode recaps from The A.V. Club.


Creature Commandos (Max, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)

Directed by James Gunn, the animated Creature Commandos features Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) who forms a new eclectic squad to tackle a global threat. The cast includes characters such as Nina Mazursky (Zoë Chao), G.I. Robot (Sean Gunn), Eric Frankenstein (David Harbour), The Bride (Indira Varma), Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), Doctor Phosphorous (Alan Tudyk), and Circe (Anya Chalotra). The first review will be available on The A.V. Club on Monday.


Black Doves (Netflix, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)

Move over Love Actually. In a distinct twist on holiday drama, Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw play spies thrown into a tense mission in Black Doves. The ensemble also features Andrew Koji, Sarah Lancashire, Andrew Buchan, Gabrielle Creevy, Adeel Akhtar, and Paapa Essiedu. Look for The A.V. Club‘s review on Wednesday.

Fresh on the scene

Earth Abides (MGM+, Sunday, 9 p.m.)

In Earth Abides, Alexander Ludwig stars as a geologist who emerges from a coma to find the world devastated by a virus, leaving few survivors and no existing societal rules. What does it take to survive in such a world?


Pop Culture Jeopardy! (Prime Video, Wednesday, 12:01 a.m.)

Colin Jost helms a new version of Jeopardy! that tests contestants on their knowledge of pop culture. The show will release three episodes weekly throughout its first 40-episode season.


Jentry Chau Vs. The Underworld (Netflix, Thursday, 3:01 a.m.)

Ali Wong lends her voice to the animated character Jentry Chau, a Chinese American teenager who battles a demon king seeking to steal her supernatural powers. The series, which also touches on typical teenage dilemmas, features voices from Lucy Liu, Jimmy O. Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, and Bowen Yang. The A.V. Club will review it on Thursday.
