It’s a Wrap for ‘And Just Like That…’ and I Have Some Unanswered Questions as I Bid Farewell to My Guilty Pleasure Show.

On a notably chilly day in the middle of a sweltering New York City summer, I found myself pondering the bigger picture as I gazed out the window, sleeves of my oversized chenille sweater wrapped tightly around my wrists. Today marks a significant shift. In a mere two weeks, we will enter a world without And Just Like That… Michael Patrick King and Sarah Jessica Parker have declared that this season’s finale will be our last encounter with my beloved, yet frustratingly flawed favorite show.

“It seemed like the perfect moment to conclude,” King expressed in a message posted on the show’s Instagram. “SJP and I chose to hold off on this announcement to not let the word ‘final’ overshadow the joy of the season.”

SJP, deeply connected to Carrie’s iconic Manolo Blahniks, opted for a poetic farewell. Through a montage of scenes from Sex and the City and And Just Like That… she delivered a reflective caption in true Carrie Bradshaw style.

“She

Crossed

Streets

Avenues

Rubicons, it seemed,” she began. “Carrie Bradshaw has been at the heart of my career for 27 years. I think she’s the character I’ve cherished the most.”

Listening to SJP’s narration, I found myself unexpectedly moved. You’ve been reading my weekly critiques; you know I don’t generally praise the show. At times, it’s downright terrible. Absent plots, over-the-top outfits (Patricia Field, please return!), and characters that defy development. Yet, I’m hooked week after week.

I’ve spent countless hours laughing at, and sometimes with, these characters as if they were real-life friends. I’ve even caught myself browsing Greek Revival townhouses near Gramercy Park on Zillow. And now, I wonder—why hasn’t Carrie enjoyed the park more? She’s got a key!

With the show ending—likely without wrapping everything up neatly—I’m left pondering several burning questions about the fate of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, Seema, and Lisa. Here are some that seem most urgent:

  • Will Seema and the charmingly annoying Hot Gardener Adam make it?
  • Will Charlotte’s children ever show her some respect?
  • Are Lisa and the Hot Editor Marion going to explore their mutual attraction?
  • Should Hot Editor Marion and Hot Gardener Adam start a ‘hot guys’ club?
  • Is Anthony’s risqué bakery doomed due to hygiene issues?
  • Will Miranda stop obsessing over Brady’s baby mama?
  • Will Joy get involved, or is this the end of the road for her relationship?
  • What name will Mia choose for her double Libra baby?
  • Is another cameo from Samantha on the cards?
  • Who will come out on top in Bi-Bingo?
  • Will Carrie be haunted by Big’s ghost?
  • Can Carrie’s historical fiction book get published before the series ends?
  • Will she ever add more furniture to her apartment?
  • And finally, how will I spend my Thursday nights without these quirky New York City women and their antics at Anthony’s scandalous bakery?

Despite my gripes, this show has shaped me. I’ve grown to detest Aidan, once a favorite, with the fervor I reserve for real-life exes of close friends. After much ridicule in the comments, I now know who Ryan Serhant is. The karaoke episode infuriated me so much, I ended up going out for karaoke myself to dispel the negative vibes. I’ll miss these maddeningly bland characters. Surprisingly, this week’s episode was among the best. Here’s hoping the final two keep the momentum going.
