Clicking these buttons opens the Tuta applications in a tab inside the mail client, mirroring the functionality one would expect from a web browser. This setup ensures that user credentials are remembered, and all standard messaging and calendar features are readily accessible.
Maintaining High Security Standards
It’s important to note that this integration doesn’t mean that Tuta Mail messages are synchronized in the traditional sense. In fact, the messages remain end-to-end encrypted—covering the body, subject, attachments, and contacts—with AES-128 and RSA-2048 encryption. This method ensures that transferring data via standard IMAP or SMTP protocols, which would require decryption before sending to Thunderbird, is avoided, thereby maintaining the integrity of Tuta’s encryption.
