Ready to dive into a whirlwind of gaming excitement? The PC Gaming Show has just wrapped up, and it’s brimming with thrilling announcements and upcoming demos that are sure to satisfy every type of gamer. This event, notorious for its polarizing receptions, managed to turn even the staunchest skeptics (yes, including that self-proclaimed atheist from our podcast team) into believers. With an array of games on display, this event serves as the perfect lead-up to the highly anticipated Steam Next Fest.
Spotlight on Summer’s Gaming Galore
This year’s PC Gaming Show didn’t just revisit some familiar faces like Ratatan and Moonlighter 2; it also introduced us to some new, exciting games that promise to heat up our summer. Among these were Wheel World and demonschool, both making their debut. PC Gamer didn’t hold back, ensuring that games like Den of Wolves, the new 007, and FBC: Firebreak got their moment in the spotlight through insightful interviews with the creators.
Tales of Selection: The Elite Five
Picking just five games from nearly a hundred contenders is no small feat. Unfortunately, this meant leaving out some noteworthy mentions like Spooky Express and Mewgenics, which are already generating buzz for their February releases. Also missing the cut, to my personal dismay, were Hell Clock and Mandrake. However, this selection, known as “The Five of the Summer Edition,” promises to showcase the most captivating games from the event.
Unveiling Kaizen: A Factory Story
Kaizen: A Factory Story, set to release on July 14th, is the brainchild of Zach Barth, a name that commands respect around here. Players will be thrust into the 1980s boom of Japan, tasked with designing and automating consumer electronics production lines. The narrative follows an American engineer starting his career at Matsuzawa Manufacturing, promising a blend of strategy and storytelling.
The Alters: Survival of the Cloned
Coming to platforms on June 13th, The Alters is one of this month’s standout games. Showcased with a stunning launch trailer at the PC Gaming Show, the game challenges players to survive on a hostile planet with clones of themselves. Managing a base under such extreme conditions isn’t easy, even if your teammates are literally versions of you.
Explore the Wastes in Garbage Country
Set for a 2025 release, Garbage Country is the latest from the creator of Cloud Gardens and Kingdom: New Lands. This game combines post-apocalyptic exploration with tower defense mechanics. Admittedly not a driving game aficionado, I’m excited for the rugged, off-road adventures it promises.
No, I’m not a Human: A Quest for Identity
From Trioskaz and published by Critical Reflex, No, I’m not a Human is a captivating game that made a strong impression at the show. With its release date still under wraps, the game challenges players to identify those pretending to be human—an intriguing and challenging premise that stands out among the crowd.
Breaking Free in Militsioner
When the trailer for Militsioner started, the appearance of the Critical Reflex logo confirmed the project’s quality and imminent realization. This game, allowing players to sign up for a playtest, revolves around escaping the watchful eye of a giant officer—a gripping premise that promises intense gameplay.
From June 3rd to 9th, 2025, a series of events and presentations have set the stage for what the future holds in gaming. Even with E3 no longer around, the “Junio Jugón” steps up to fill that void, keeping the gaming festival spirit alive and thrilling. Click here to explore more about what these games and events have to offer as they unfold throughout the year.
