A selection of 55 games are also receiving a Pro patch today, promising superb performance enhancements. Corporate Shifts and Game Studio Closures

In a recent financial disclosure, Take-Two Interactive has confirmed the closure of Intercept Games and Roll7 after months of denial. These studios, known for their work on ‘Kerbal Space Program 2’ and ‘OlliOlli World’ respectively, were dismantled mid-year. Additionally, their overseeing division, Private Division, has been sold to an undisclosed buyer for an unspecified amount. According to Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, despite Private Division’s effective support for indie developers and the success of most projects, the scale of these games was relatively small. Zelnick emphasized that Take-Two’s business strategy focuses on blockbuster hits. Notably, ‘No Rest for the Wicked’, a game recently published by Private Division, will now fall under Take-Two’s publishing umbrella.

Gameplay Recording Now on Steam

Steam has officially launched a gameplay recording feature, which had been in testing phases. This feature is now available on the latest version of the Steam Deck OS as well. Players can activate this function to automatically save the last 120 minutes of gameplay or opt for manual control. Once recorded, these segments can be reviewed and edited through Steam, and if the game supports Steam Timeline, important moments in the gameplay are highlighted with markers for easy access.

Labor Unrest at Don’t Nod

The labor union Syndicat des Travailleurs du Jeu Vidéo has announced a strike at Don’t Nod Entertainment in response to a planned company restructuring. This restructuring is set to eliminate 69 jobs. The union criticizes the plan as a superficial fix to the studio’s financial issues without addressing the failures and responsibilities of the management. They demand the abolition of the restructuring plan, increased employee involvement in decision-making, and the presence of CEO Oskar Guilbert in negotiations.
