Are you ready for a twist in the tale of video game collaborations? Take-Two and Bloober Team’s partnership on the much-anticipated Project C has come to an abrupt end. Here’s everything you need to know about this surprising development and what’s next for the involved parties.

A Sudden Split

The Polish studio Bloober Team, known for its expertise in horror games, has recently announced the termination of its production and distribution agreement with Take-Two. This unexpected news was first reported by PAP Biznes, a local news agency, referencing an unpublished press release. Originally set up by Take-Two’s independently operated label, Private Division, this collaboration was intended to birth a new survival horror game, Project C, which was not expected to be ready before 2025.

Behind the Scenes with Private Division

Private Division, celebrating its fifth anniversary in December 2022, had high hopes for this venture with Bloober Team. Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, once remarked that the relationship with Private Division was more like a friendship, offering support in times of need. However, recent layoffs at Take-Two, affecting many, including Private Division’s internal studios like Roll7 and Intercept Games, as well as staff across global offices in Seattle, New York, Las Vegas, and Munich, hint at underlying challenges. Despite these setbacks, Private Division has other projects lined up, including the whimsical Tales of the Shire slated for 2024 release and the ongoing early access of No Rest for the Wicked. They are also involved in another intriguing project, codenamed Project Bloom, with Game Freak.

Bloober Team’s Path Forward

Despite the setback with Take-Two, Bloober Team remains resilient. The studio is considering continuing the development of Project C independently, though they are open to partnering with another distributor if the opportunity arises. This pivot aligns with their anticipation of potential market disruptions and their strategic planning for such scenarios.

This project is pivotal for the studio, and the gaming community is eagerly awaiting more details, possibly as soon as tonight at the State of Play or the Silent Hill: Transmission event.

In the dynamic world of game development, partnerships may come and go, but the quest for thrilling gaming experiences continues. Bloober Team’s journey through these changes underscores the unpredictable nature of the industry and their commitment to delivering spine-chilling adventures to gamers around the world. Stay tuned to see how these developments unfold in the gaming landscape.
