Are you a fan of Rian Johnson’s knack for crafting mystery tales? If so, the release of the third ‘Knives Out’ might have felt like a small consolation after the shocking cancellation of ‘Poker Face’, a series that ended abruptly with hints of a possible return (and a recast). This news caught many by surprise, but not everyone was equally unprepared.
Behind the Scenes Insights
Natasha Lyonne, the star and producer of ‘Poker Face’, revealed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the cancellation had been brewing behind the scenes. According to her, it wasn’t a surprise to those closely involved with the show. She talked about how the end of season 2, particularly the episode titled ‘At the End of the Road’, should have been a clear hint of what was coming. Lyonne humorously noted, “I’m very grateful that Rian and I directed the last season’s finale named ‘At the End of the Road’… it should have been a clue, folks. We literally threw the car off a cliff!”
Speculations on Future Collaborations
Despite the series ending, Lyonne hinted at the possibility of future projects, including a nostalgic throwback telefilm that she and Johnson might collaborate on, akin to the classic detective shows like ‘Columbo’. She even teased the potential for bizarre crossovers, joking about a ‘Knives Out: Stranger Things’ mash-up where her character, Charlie Cale, would solve a mystery in the ‘Stranger Things’ universe.
Lyonne also mentioned that she has been toying with ideas for a third season of ‘Russian Doll’, although nothing is set in stone yet. Time will tell what comes next for her creative ventures.
In Lyonne’s own words, the entertainment industry is unpredictable, and stranger things have indeed happened. Whether it’s reviving beloved characters or creating new tales, the possibilities remain wide open.
