From intense action games to strategic simulations, these indie games are capturing everyone’s attention

A fresh online movement has indie game creators sharing quick, 15-second videos that give us a sneak peek at their projects, and my Steam wishlist is exploding in size.

This wave started with developer quicktequila, whose game Tamashika—a visually striking, psychedelic shooter—earned over 150,000 likes. The gameplay features a player navigating a dynamically unfolding corridor, battling exaggerated cartoonish frogs with just a pistol and a knife for shooting and melee attacks, respectively. The game’s vibrant, surreal visuals make it a standout. You can add it to your wishlist on Steam.

Another eye-catcher is Mightreya, a game that draws inspiration from action-packed titles like Hi-Fi Rush and Bayonetta. Players control an anime schoolgirl superhero who’s also a content creator, executing elaborate combos and juggling enemies to earn top grades and, presumably, social media fame. Check out the aerial maneuvers in the game and consider adding it to your Steam collection.

Switching to a more subdued vibe, we have Detective Dotson, a pixel art detective game set in contemporary India. The game’s vibrant aesthetics, complex detective puzzles, and mini-games captured in just 15 seconds really draw you in. If you’re a fan of rich, interactive narratives, keep an eye out for its release on Steam this April 3, complete with a free demo.

Next, we delve into the darkly humorous Car Park Capital, a game that mimics classic city builders but with a twist. Tasked by the car industry, your goal is to transform pedestrian-friendly cities into sprawling parking lots using propaganda. It’s a satirical take on urban planning that’s both wicked and intriguing. And yes, it’s also on my wishlist!

Finally, we have Truckful, a seemingly tranquil simulation of driving a truck through stunning forest landscapes. However, the game quickly shifts as you attempt to navigate treacherous cliffside roads while uncovering a small-town mystery. Naturally, it’s available on Steam as well.

Keep an eye on the upcoming indie games of 2025 and beyond for more updates.
