We’ve let our kid play Roblox, a popular community-based game simulator, for approximately a year or so now. Among her favorite games are Royal High and Adopt Me, a pet life simulator.
You’re probably familiar with what I’m referring to if you’re a parent. A well-known Roblox game, Adopt Me, allows you to take care of a variety of different animals by feeding them, taking them to the doctor, and even enrolling them in school.
It’s like owning a Tamagotchi, except in three dimensions, and far more fun. Because our daughter was dying for a unicorn as a pet in the game, we had to give in to her wishes. If you ask her what she is thinking about, she will nearly always say unicorns. She can’t get enough of them.
Is Roblox as addictive as we’d previously thought?
As a result, we grabbed our iPads and smartphones and began acquiring Robux (the game currency) in order to purchase eggs that we were tasked with hatching, all in the hopes of helping our daughter get her ultimate prize.
We had to hatch a lot of eggs in order to obtain it. Among the treasures was a lovable Fennec fox, which I dutifully called Fennec. A red panda, the wife’s pet, was a favorite companion. The other day, I had to go out and get new iPad charging cords. There’s a Fennec plush we bought from Amazon that hangs out in the house

We’re continually being dropped out of the game since it’s so buggy. Invisible ladders and poles are common places for characters to get tangled up, and it’s not uncommon for them to become one with them. But all of that adds to the allure. No, it’s something we do together as a family.
Glitch-ridden pets and adorable animations bring us all together at night to laugh over the day’s work, and we do it as a group. It has become a significant part of my life. That’s something I never expected to say about Roblox.
