WhatsApp, a platform for instant messaging, is always adding new features to make the service more interesting. In May, the corporation allowed for 512 members in a group and the transfer of files up to 2GB in size. WABetaInfo reports that the membership has increased by another 100%.
You read that right! By the end of the year, WhatsApp will allow groups to contain up to 1024 people. This week, the feature made its way to the beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS, suggesting a public release in the coming months.
The WhatsApp group chat feature is a standout. It facilitates conversation among a large number of people about the same topic. The most prevalent types of WhatsApp groups include those for family and friends, for the workplace, and for people with similar interests like movies, sports, and other topics.
A Maximum of 1024 Members Can Now Be in A Single Whats App Group
This announcement brings WhatsApp closer to rivalling Telegram, which already supports groups with hundreds of thousands of members. For quite some time, WhatsApp’s group chat limit stood at 256 people. Just a few months ago, WhatsApp introduced a new user interface for making calls, and the maximum number of people who may join a call went up to 32.
But it’s tough to keep track of such a large group. The good news is that this isn’t the only area of improvement. WABetaInfo also reports that new features are under development that would help admins manage huge groups more efficiently within WhatsApp. Group admins can check who has requested to join the group and quickly accept them all with the help of an approval mechanism and a list of pending group members.
WhatsApp is also working on a feature to provide a list of outstanding group invitations. In this way, only the group’s administrators will be able to see invitations and grant you access to the group.
