With a forthcoming update, WhatsApp will allow you to respond with any emoji. The emoji reply tool was first introduced by the firm in April, but it wasn’t made widely available until May. The only available emoji at the time was the thumbs up, heart, joined hands, tears of joy, mouth open, and weeping face.
We’re rolling out the option to use any emoji as a reaction on WhatsApp, Mark Zuckerberg revealed in a Facebook post. The extended emoji reply function is being made available to everyone by the firm starting today, but if you haven’t seen it in your app yet, you will in a few days.
Long-press on a message hit the Plus button, and select an emoji from the entire selection to use as a reaction. The emoji you chose will be visible beneath the message.
The new feature is only a cute visual enhancement; you are not restricted to using the six pre-set emojis. With this, the firm is attempting to surpass Telegram, which by default supports a wider variety of emoji reactions but requires a premium subscription to access more.
After rolling out features like Android to iPhone chat transfer and the ability to conceal your last seen and profile image from particular individuals, WhatsApp’s emoji reaction feature is the app’s first significant update since July.
