Reportedly, WhatsApp is introducing a new mechanism to view the status update of a business account. According to a new revelation by a WhatsApp features tracker, users can read the status updates of a business account by pressing the profile image on the ‘business info’ page. The feature is currently being made available to beta testers and is anticipated to be made available to all users in upcoming versions. A couple of months ago, this feature was discovered in the WhatsApp source code and was supposedly unavailable to any users, stable or beta, at the time.
According to WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo, the instant messaging app is getting a new feature that will allow users to read the status updates of business accounts by pressing the profile image on the ‘business details’ page. This will provide users with two options: profile photo and status. The features tracker also highlighted that the Facebook-owned chat app will keep the previous mechanism for viewing the location of status updates in the status tab.
According to WABetaInfo, this functionality is presently being rolled out exclusively to WhatsApp Business account users; regular WhatsApp account users may receive this feature in a future version.
This capability was discovered a few months ago in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.21.17.5. The functionality was still in development at the time and was not available for public beta testing.
This month, WhatsApp Business account holders acquired a new tool called “Collections” that allows them to better organize their catalog and categorize goods.
Moreover, WhatsApp is apparently introducing a new control bar to the video mode with picture-in-picture. Users will be able to swiftly pause/resume a video and open/close full-screen mode using the control bar. This capability is presently available on the instant messaging app, but only for videos from specified platforms.
