Rapper Badshah has finally released a statement regarding the controversy around his new single Genda Phool.
Badshah’s music video forgot to recognize Bengali folk musician Ratan Kahar, who wrote the song’s lyrics.
Now, according to the singer, Kahar’s name was nowhere to be found in the team’s records.
Here are more details.
What Is the Debate Surrounding the Term “Genda Phool”?
People began to point out that the Bengali phrase “Book er Bitilo, Lomba Lomba Chul….all Genda Phool” was borrowed from a song written by Kahar, a Bengali folk musician.
However, his name does not appear in the credits of Sony Music India’s latest music video.
Meanwhile, Badshah’s song continues to ascend the rankings of popularity.

I have always appreciated varied Indian music and languages: Badshah
Additionally, in his response, Badshah justified himself by stating that he has always appreciated the beauty of India’s different music and languages.
He said that a number of Bengali musicians, including the vocalist Payal Dev and the seasoned instrumentalist Tapas Roy, contributed to this rendition of Genda Phool.
This was done, according to him, to “maintain the authenticity” and “give credit to the linguistics.”

Badshah now provides Kahar assistance “on humanitarian grounds.”
Kahar has been offered assistance by Badshah.
Due to the continuous statewide lockdown, he has been unable to make contact with the folk musician, as he has been attempting to do so.
Badshah pleaded with anyone speaking on Kahar’s behalf to “help me connect with him so I can do whatever I can on humanitarian grounds to rectify this situation.”
