The release date for Predator: Hunting Grounds is April 24, but fans can get a head start this weekend with a free trial that starts on March 27. IllFonic, the game’s developer, has detailed the upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC versions.
In case you haven’t heard, the upcoming game is a 4v1 PvP deathmatch with varying goals, and it’s asymmetrical. A Friday the 13th Horror Film, or Dead by Daylight: Game and the concept is the same: one player controls the huge, cruel, and technologically superior Predator, while the other four players each handle human characters with their own arsenal of weaponry.
Even though each member of the human Fireteam is a lethal and exceptional combatant in the human world, they would be no match for a Predator on their own. In order to increase their chances of survival, players can select one of four different Fireteam classes that emphasize teamwork.
There will be a total of three of each type available during the trial: Assault, Scout, and Support. Shotguns are good for close range, assault rifles are good for medium range, and sniper rifles and scopes are great for long range, but each has advantages and disadvantages.
Most of the time, the Fireteam’s mission will consist of a straightforward “retrieve and flee.” In order to finish the mission, players must travel to a specific location on the map, where they will face off against AI enemies and then make their getaway.
The Predator, on the other hand, always brings their A-game to the hunt, with the main goal of eliminating the human players and taking their heads as trophies. To begin, comparing the Predator to the highly trained warriors of the Fireteam is like comparing apples and oranges. They’ve got weaponry and technology from all throughout the galaxy, and they’re much bigger and stronger than us.
This trial weekend only gives access to the Hunter class, however, at launch, the Predator will also be accessible as the Berserker and the Scout.
And finally, the trial will only allow one map. Hiding away in the South American mountains is a band of hostile guerilla forces and operatives that want to profit off of alien technology. Killing drug lords, interfering with communications, and protecting their companies’ technology are just a few of the goals of the Fireteam.
You only “win” if you make it to the ‘Choppa while the Predator is hard on your heels, regardless of how many tasks you manage to fulfill. This weekend, you can try it out for free to see what all the hype is about before the full release in April.
