For everyone here at PlayStation, this is a really thrilling occasion. We’ve been able to give you a taste of some of the spectacular new games being developed for PlayStation 5 over the past few months, games that take advantage of the console’s innovative features to provide instantaneous loading times, deeper immersion, and next-gen gaming altogether. We can’t wait for you to embark on these bold new adventures.
We are only a few months away from delivering the next generation of play, as we recently stated in our PS5 Showcase. The United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea are the first seven major markets to receive the PlayStation 5 on November 12. Launches in the rest of the world* (Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia, and South Africa) are scheduled for November 19.
Prices for the PS5 Digital Edition will be $399.99 USD/$499 CAD/39,980/€399.99/£359.99 (MSRP), while the PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will be $499.99 USD/$629 CAD/49,980/€499.99/£449.99 (RRP) (MSRP). Some stores will begin accepting pre-orders as early as tomorrow, so it’s best to call ahead to be sure you can get in on the action.
We’re excited to provide two different PlayStation 5 consoles at launch, catering to gamers who either desire a strictly digital experience or who prefer playing games from physical discs. Both versions of the PS5 offer the same stunning, next-gen gaming experiences.
Both PS5 variants have the same ultra-high-speed SSD with integrated I/O for lightning-fast loading times and the same bespoke processor with integrated CPU and GPU for high-fidelity visuals, including 4K graphics and ray-tracing capabilities. There will be no difference in the PS5’s level of immersion thanks to the 3D audio or the DualSense Wireless Controller.
We’re excited about the variety of PS5 games in development, and we intend to keep adding titles developed by the industry’s brightest minds to our library. The following upcoming PS5 titles were previewed today: Also, we’re thrilled to release PS4 versions of some of our exclusives because we know the PS4 community will make the switch to PS5 at different times.
PlayStation 4 owners may also look forward to the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Horizon: Forbidden West. While the PlayStation 5 and its next-gen capabilities, such as the ultra-fast SSD and DualSense controller, were taken into account while developing these three games, PS4 owners will still be able to enjoy them once they are released.
Launch titles for the PS4 will be upgraded for free on both PS5 models that support digital downloads, while those titles for the PS4 on the disc will be upgraded for free only on the PS5 model that supports the Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc format.
The PlayStation Plus Collection** is a brand-new PS5 addition for PlayStation Plus subscribers. PS4 classics like Batman: Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5, and dozens more will be available for download and play on the PS5 for PS Plus members. For the same monthly fee, PS Plus subscribers will gain access to the PS Plus Collection in addition to all of the current PS4 perks.
