It’s hard to believe that Roblox has such a large user population, yet its freeform nature and user-created levels make it a mixed bag for younger users.
In fact, according to a recent Wall Street Journal article, Roblox’s vice president of trust and safety, Remy Malan, has confirmed the implementation of a rating system. So that players may see if the game is appropriate for them before they join, and possibly prevent them from doing so, the content will be classified according to age-appropriateness.
According to reports, the game will make it easier to locate and use parental restrictions that currently exist, which confine players to a pre-approved list of family-friendly games rather than the unlimited pool of unapproved creations that can be found.
We don’t know how long it will take for these promises from Roblox to come to fruition because there isn’t a specific timeframe linked to them. However, when they do arrive, it will be a positive step forward.

Sexism in Roblox Is a Problem.
Roblox’s new rating system will solve the issue.
The game is also expected to make it easier to locate and use parental restrictions that are already available.
Remy Malan, Roblox’s vice president of trust and safety and the company’s chief privacy officer, said the company is currently focusing on generating content ratings for games and making parental controls easier to find and use.
According to Mr. Malan, “Roblox is designed for children and teenagers, and we have a responsibility to ensure that our players can learn, create, and play safely.” During the pandemic, Roblox has been a wonderful way for many families to keep their children occupied and in touch with their peers.
Because of the large number of players who are under the age of 13, keeping the game PG-13 is a top priority. However, with the ability to freely speak with other players and create their own fantasy worlds, this becomes increasingly difficult.
Age-inappropriate games may appear on a child’s “recommended for you” list even if they claim to be under the age of 13.
Within the hard-to-find controls, parents can restrict the games kids can play in Roblox to those deemed appropriate by the company. But of the tens of millions of multiplayer games within Roblox, only around 1,000 are on that curated list.
How does the new rating system in Roblox work?
Players will be able to see if a game’s material is appropriate for their age before they join, and may be prevented from doing so if their date of birth does not match the criteria.
Controls for parents in Roblox
Roblox has additional parental controls that can be used to verify that the game is safe for children to play. For further information, take a look at the Roblox website.
To begin, make sure you enter your child’s birth date accurately. Safe chats with a higher level of screening will be activated when this is done. As a parent, this means you’ll be able to monitor your child’s interactions through a separate parent account.
You should only play games that have been hand-picked by Roblox employees.

Toggle the Account Restrictions slider to “On” by clicking the gear symbol in the upper-right corner of the screen.
The Key Parental Controls in Roblox
Nothing about Roblox screams “parental controls” at the moment. A child’s account can be set up in the safest manner possible by following the steps outlined below. Keep in mind that nothing is foolproof: Because no email address is required, kids can easily set up a second account.
The date of your child’s birth must be entered correctly. Set up an account for your child and explain why you’re doing it, as well as the controls you’re putting in place. Certain language in the chat section will be filtered out if a child’s genuine age is indicated.
Put a stop to any games that aren’t appropriate for children. To access the settings menu, either use the three dots in the app or the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the main Roblox webpage. Scroll down to Account Restrictions under Security Settings. Play is restricted to only those games that Roblox deems suitable for children under the age of 13 when that bar is turned green. In addition, it prevents other gamers from contacting your child. There are further communication controls in the Privacy menu.
Make sure you have a PIN. Parents can set up a four-digit PIN for their children in the security settings. Controls like this can keep children from tampering with them.
