Players Unknown’s Battlegrounds: New State’s restricted alpha test server apparently went live in some countries this past Friday over the weekend. The game’s announcement and pre-registration on Google Play and the App Store happened in February of this year, and Krafton is responsible for its development.
The developer has since stated that they are concentrating on relaunching PUBG Mobile in India, under the new name Battlegrounds Mobile India, and hence the game is currently unavailable in that country. According to Android Police’s Matthew Sholtz, the limited alpha for PUBG: New State began late last week, and Sholtz also released an hour of gameplay footage. From the looks of it, this is just a new skin for PUBG Mobile. With its futuristic setting in the year 2051, PUBG: New State adds cutting-edge weapons and equipment to the battle royale genre, such as drones that may be utilized strategically.
The gameplay footage reveals a similar control scheme with some supplementary choices. The report states that the gameplay was filmed on the Troi map at 1080p 60 frames per second. Sholtz also attempted using a physical controller, but only the left thumbstick functioned, suggesting that either PUBG: New State does not support controllers or the feature is still in development despite the game’s otherwise good performance. Notably, unlike other games,
PUBG Mobile does not have strong controller compatibility. Sholtz gave the Asus ROG Phone 5 a go and played the game. Even though PUBG: New State’s closed alpha launched on Friday night in the United States, it was only available for the weekend. No official date for the game’s release has been announced by Krafton, and it’s still unknown whether or not it will have released in India. According to a March report, PUBG: New State is not available in India since the developer is concentrating on relaunching PUBG Mobile in the nation.
Rebranded as Battlegrounds Mobile India, PUBG Mobile will be adapted to suit the tastes of Indian gamers. Pre-registration for Battlegrounds Mobile India opened on May 18 for Android users, and while there is no confirmed release date, June 18 is widely seen as a reasonable estimate.
