No Sound Coming from Your I Phone? Here’s What to Do About It!

Posted on May 6, 2023 By Kriti Kamra No Comments on No Sound Coming from Your I Phone? Here’s What to Do About It!

Undoubtedly, among all smartphones, the iPhone has one of the greatest sound systems. You won’t miss any notifications because of the Taptic Engine’s integration with the loud, clear audio. But what if your iPhone’s speakers are completely broken? Read on to find out how to fix no sound on your iPhone if you’re having this issue.

12 Steps to Fix No Sound on iPhone

1. Check the Ring/Silent Switch

The Ring/Silent switch, often known as the mute switch, is a feature of every iPhone since the 2007 release of the first iPhone. As the name implies, it is a physical button on the iPhone that you may slide to alternate between Ring and Silent modes. Sadly, iOS doesn’t show if the mode of your iPhone is Ring or Silent.

It’s possible that your iPhone is in silent mode, which prevents you from hearing any sound from it. If you can see an orange strip when you navigate to the mute switch, your iPhone is in silent mode. Your iPhone will enter Ring mode once you move the switch to the top.

2. Remove the Screen Protector and Case to fix no sound on iPhone

Many of us use screen protectors and covers to shield our iPhones from harm in the event of unintentional drops. It is a good practice, no doubt. But if you use a third-party attachment that wasn’t created for your device, you risk obstructing the speaker or earphone grills.

We advise removing the screen protector and the case in such circumstances. Once you’ve done that, we can be certain that accessories are not the cause of the malfunctioning iPhone speakers.

3. Clean Speakers

Clean Speakers

The speakers may be cleaned now that your iPhone has been taken out of the case. The bottom of your iPhone contains speaker grilles, and the majority of current iPhones even have a speaker built into the earpiece. There is a possibility that lint or debris has obstructed these speakers.

We advise using a brush with gentle bristles to clean the earpiece as well as the speaker grilles that fire downward. Make sure to scrub it lightly to avoid damaging the speakers. Additionally, if there is something stuck in the speakers, kindly avoid using any sharp things. Instead, bring your iPhone to the local Apple Store and ask them to perform the action.

4. Test iPhone Sound Settings

Your iPhone still doesn’t produce any sound even after you’ve switched to the Ring mode, taken off the case, and cleaned the speakers. The sound settings on your iPhone can be low. If incoming notification sounds are giving you difficulties.

2 minutes are required.

Use These Instructions to Test Your iPhone’s Speakers and Sound Settings.

  • Head to Settings and tap on Sounds & Haptics.
  • On the next screen, under the Ringtone and Alert Volume option, drag the slider to the maximum limit. Now, tap the Ringtone option under Sound and Haptic Patterns.
  • Tap on any of the Ringtones and test the speakers of your iPhone.

5. Disable Focus Modes

iPhones have a variety of Focus Modes, and you may even alter them to suit your preferences. The most fundamental one is Do Not Disturb, though. Your iPhone will muffle incoming calls, notifications, and texts when DND is enabled. And this could be the cause of the sound problems you’re having with your iPhone.

To turn off Focus Mode on your iPhone, follow these instructions.

1. Start your iPhone’s Control Center.

  • For iPhones with a Notch: Swipe down from the top right corner.
  • For iPhones with a Home Button: Swipe Up from the bottom of the screen.

2. Tap the Focus icon (in this case, Crescent Moon, which may vary depending on which Focus is enabled).

3. To turn off the Focus, tap the icon with Unmentioned beneath its name on the next screen.
