Unfortunately, all Xbox Game Studios, WBIE, Codemasters, and Klei Entertainment games will no longer be available on Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service.
A fresh blog post on the website of the graphics card manufacturer disclosed the news, stating that as of this coming Friday, April 24th, all games developed by the aforementioned firms will no longer be available. In addition, Nvidia expressed its desire for a “return” in the not-too-distant future.
According to a report by The Verge, Nvidia’s problematic plan “does not entail publishers selling separate licenses of games for access in the cloud,” which led to the withdrawal of access from Xbox Game Studios, Warner Bros., and other companies. When the gaming service was in its free beta phase, this was not an issue.
Since then, Nvidia has made GeForce Now available to the public for $4.99 per month, prompting some game developers, including Blizzard Activision and Bethesda Softworks, to remove their games from the service.
Popular games including Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Forza, Gears of War, Batman: Arkham and Mortal Kombat will no longer be playable for subscribers due to the removal of Xbox Game Studios and Warner Bros. titles.
Nvidia, however, also revealed a refreshed GeForce Now team, the result of a renewed partnership with Ubisoft. There will be a selection of the studio’s most popular titles available, including Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs.
“Ubisoft fully supports Nvidia’s GeForce Now with complete access to our PC games from the Ubisoft Store or any supported game retailers,” stated Chris Early, SVP of Partnerships at Ubisoft. We think it’s a cutting-edge service since it provides PC gamers both old and new greater freedom in how and where they play their favorite games.
In addition to Destiny 2, other games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive may be found on GeForce Now right now. In related news, game developer Riot Games has revealed plans to open a new facility in Singapore. The Singapore office’s main responsibilities will be the creation of new games and the maintenance of the company’s existing catalog.
