Apple’s in-car interface, CarPlay, just got better thanks to an update that lets you utilize outside map apps on its dashboard. The CarPlay dashboard displays information from other apps directly, like as music and maps, which can assist you to get to your destination, but you can only use Apple Maps as of right now.
Third-party map applications have to use a full-screen view rather than displaying as a split-screen on the dashboard. With iOS 13.4, it is finally possible to have third-party apps run on the dashboard as well.
Although Apple now permits third-party apps to appear on the CarPlay dashboard, developers still need to add support. Google Maps and Waze are the two major businesses that are currently inoperable.
While Google declined to discuss any future plans, it did tell The Verge that it is committed to “exploring ways to make the in-vehicle experience more seamless.”
Apple Has Been Updating Its Maps App to Increase Its Dependability
Although Apple has been improving its Maps app over the past few years to make it more dependable for iPhone users, many people still favor using other navigational tools. For CarPlay users who find Apple Maps lacking, the availability of third-party map apps on the dashboard is a significant improvement.
Along with third-party support for navigation apps, iOS 13.4 also adds in-call information to the CarPlay dashboard and highly sought features for other Apple products, including complete mouse and trackpad support for iPads.
