There are different kinds of out-of-sync audio problems on an iPhone. You might have trouble with the audio not keeping up with or being faster than the video when editing iPhone videos in Adobe Premiere Pro, recording a game video on an iPhone screen, playing and watching online streaming on YouTube, Instagram, etc.

Why Are the Audio and Video on My iPhone Not in Sync?

Different things can cause sound problems on an iPhone, and sometimes it’s hard to figure out what’s wrong. But based on our research and information gathered from user comments and some iPhone forums, here are some common problems that can cause iPhone video and audio to be out of sync. Check on them now.

iPhone has a variable frame rate, which will be a problem when you use iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, etc. to edit video files shot and recorded by iPhone.
Software trouble. It happens when you open an iPhone video in some programs, like the Camera app, the Photos app, or some Windows or Mac players.
DRM and hardware problems, which mostly happen to iPhone-recorded video files, are the main causes.
There was an issue with the network. This happens when you watch streaming videos on YouTube, Instagram, Netflix, HBO, Epix, or other platforms.

1. Fix iPhone/IPad Video and Audio that Are out Of Sync in I Movie, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere

Possible Reason: iPhone’s variable frame rate.

The source videos shot on an iPhone play well. But when editing with iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, or other easy video editing programs, the sound is not in sync with the video. Videos that an iPhone takes to use a variable frame rate so that they can be compressed and run better. However, most editors don’t like that the frame rate can change. Even though the latest version of Premiere Pro CC, 12.0.1, adds support for Variable Frame Rates, most other programs, like iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and Lightworks, only support constant frame rates or have trouble with Variable Frame Rates. This is the main reason why an iPhone’s audio and video don’t match up and playback is choppy. To fix the problem, you need to change iPhone footage from Variable Frame Rate to Constant Frame Rate.

Step 1: Click the Video button and choose your source iPhone clip by clicking the + Video icon.

Step 2: In the Target Format section, choose a format you want to keep for the video from the list.

Step 3: Click the blue RUN button to start processing your iPhone footage. Without further ado, your iPhone videos will switch from Variable Frame Rate to Constant Frame Rate by default.

2. Fix iPhone/IPad Videos that Aren’t in Sync with The Audio

After shooting a video with the iPhone Camera app, users can clearly see dropped frames and out of sync sound. It’s disappointing that the sound of the recording on an iPhone plays faster or slower than the image, no matter if you play it in the Camera app, or the Photos app, or download it to a Mac or PC. 4. Fix YouTube, Instagram, and Netflix Audio that Is out Of Sync on I Phone or IPad

When using apps to watch YouTube, Instagram, Netflix, HBO, Epix, or other streaming videos on an iPhone, some of you may have trouble keeping the picture and sound in sync. Step 1: Click Downloader from the main interface, then click the +Add Video button.

Step 2: Copy the URL for the video in question and click Paste URL & Analyze.

Step 3: Select the output resolution and format you want. Then just click Done.

Step 4: Click “Download Now” to start the process, and the videos will be downloaded as-is to your computer.

Many users said the problem only happens when using Bluetooth headphones. Take the headphone off.

Fast forward or backward, and play the video again. Sometimes, it works for video and sound that are out of sync.
Adjust the router’s bands between 2.4 and 5.0.

5. Fix iPhone/iPad AirPod sounds lagging

Unpair the AirPods and then pair them with the iPhone to see if the problem is gone.
Stop any other apps that are using audio.
Reset AirPods to the factory settings. This should make the AirPods work properly.
Try resetting your iPhone to fix the AirPods audio delay.
Go to the Apple Store or the third-party store to repair or replace your AirPods.
