Final Fantasy 16 is coming, for sure. When or if it will be available on PC remains a mystery. If you don’t have the PS5, you won’t be able to smash Eikons together, and Square Enix has been vague about whether we’ll be able to do it.
For the first time since Final Fantasy 15(opens in a new tab), a new mainline Final Fantasy game has been released, and in true series fashion, it features all-new characters in an entirely new setting. In terms of gameplay, it seems like a Kaiju fight film mixed with FFVII Remake.

Square Enix hasn’t acknowledged the existence of a PC version since the game’s reveal video, and the PS5 version is presently being sold as an exclusive. To get a sense of what to expect from Final Fantasy 16, we may take a look at its debut trailer, which focuses on the game’s wide tones and themes. When Naoki Yoshida’s FF14 expansion teams made their spectacular CGI-based trailers, they did an excellent job of selling the action and setting up their narrative.
The prince’s personal bodyguard, Joshua, appears to be the focus of the game. Shiva, Phoenix, and Ifrit are just a few of the characters we recognize from the series.
The backdrop, which appears to be more medieval this time around, is the primary draw here, even though there isn’t much to chew on in terms of plot. Final Fantasy 16 will not have an open world.
Producer Naoki Yoshida claims that Final Fantasy 16 will not feature an open world. Developers seek to create what they call a “truly ‘global’ size” with independent playable zones by building a range of locations that feel distinct and far apart from each other.
Blight will play a major role in the plot of Final Fantasy 16.
All those proper nouns from the unveiling video now have some significance according to the new material on FF16’s website.
Square Enix claims that the world of Valisthea is home to Mothercrystals, which are gigantic, sparkling mountains. “Aether has been used for centuries to conjure magicks that allow people to enjoy comfortable and abundant lives in these beacons. This uneasy truce has lasted for many years between each of Mothercrystal’s great powers. However, when the Blight spreads, the peace of the lords is shattered.”
Eikons and Dominants, on the other hand, are the world’s most powerful beings, and humans are the vessels through which they can be summoned. Dominants can either be respected as royalty or feared depending on the country they come from.
