Chinese and foreign ambassadors emphasize multilateral cooperation during online dialogues

The year 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations (UN).Over the past 50 years, China has, together with other countries, safeguarded the international system with the UN at the core and actively taken part in reform and construction of the global governance system, making unremitting efforts and great contributions to further development of the whole mankind and acting as a major responsible country in promoting peaceful development of the world.


To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the restoration of China’s lawful seat in the UN, and the China Public Diplomacy Association jointly launched the high-end series of “Online Talks between Chinese and Foreign Ambassadors,” with Yangtze River News also having taken part in the programme planning. Chinese ambassadors to Russia, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Algeria and their foreign counterparts were invited to share their views on topics regarding bilateral and multilateral cooperation.


The first session of the Talks was joined by Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui and Russian Ambassador to China Andrei Denisov. The two ambassadors discussed topics such as China-Russia head-of-state diplomacy, bilateral relations, and the 20th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation. They also exchanged views on the close China-Russia cooperation under UN framework, the role of the two countries as the mainstay in safeguarding global fairness and justice, and looked ahead to the bright prospects of China-Russia good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong and Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque discussed topics such as the ironclad China-Pakistan friendship over the course of 70 years and economic and trade cooperation and all-weather strategic cooperation between the two countries. They also shared views on strengthening collaboration under UN framework, writing a new chapter for China-Pakistan friendly exchanges and building a bilateral community with a shared future in the new era.




Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Ni Jian and his UAE counterpart Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri also joined the online dialogue, discussing such issues as the Expo 2020 Dubai, China-UAE anti-pandemic cooperation and high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and also the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE. The two ambassadors also looked ahead in the new journey toward realizing the centenary goals of both countries through cooperation.




During the online dialogue between Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Li Lianhe and Algerian Ambassador to China Ahcene Boukhelfa, the two ambassadors discussed topics such as traditional friendship and cooperation between China and Algeria, deepening China-Algeria cooperation, and the role of developing countries in international affairs. While speaking for developing countries, they called on developing countries to stay united, take an active part in global governance, safeguard the international system with the UN as the core, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.

During the talks, the ambassadors looked back to the progress China has made through its cooperation with other countries under UN framework, talked about deep friendship between China and foreign countries, and helped strengthen people-to-people exchanges between China and the countries. Through the dialogues, the ambassadors explored ways for global governance in the post-pandemic era, promoted multilateral coordination and cooperation, and pushed for the efforts in building a community with a shared future for mankind.
